Decorations are best purchased in the couple of weeks FOLLOWING Christmas. Prices are then slashed 50-90%. Last year I got a six-foot pre-lit white tree and tons of blue and silver lights, tinsel and balls a week after Christmas for just $18 total... This year I will be able to reap the rewards of my bargain shopping by having a Dallas Cowboys tree somewhere in my home. Had I purchased the items at full price I would have spent over $150, but patience paid off in a big way.
So limit how much you spend on decor before Christmas this year. Don't think you have enough lights? Try dimming instead of brightening for a warm, romantic look and use candles to create a Christmas glow. Cut small branches of evergreen trees and arrange in a vase with some red ribbon for a woodsy smell. Fill a clear vase or bowl with Christmas balls for a festive centerpiece. There are lots of things you can do for little to no cost... just be creative! :)
