Going to the movies with the family nowadays can cost over $50-$60 once you factor in the tickets, popcorn, candy, sodas and gas. Grabbing a movie from Redbox, $1 (or free if you have a code); making popcorn with the family, pennies; being able to get up and take a bathroom break without missing half the movie, PRICELESS!
Plus, home made treats can be cheaper, but tastier than those overpriced candy bars. How about some brownie-ice cream sundaes while watching your favorite flick? A box of brownie mix goes for around $1... less if you have a coupon, and a tub of ice-cream can be purchased for as little as 99c on sale.
All of the new movies end up out on DVD eventually. With a little patience and a switch to some good old fashioned family fun, you can save hundreds of dollars a year by making this little change! (Put all the money you save aside and you could buy yourself a bigger screen TV in no time at all if you choose!)
BTW, You guys must be a lot richer than I thought... Thank you to all the readers who have "come out" thus far for the giveaway! I was super excited. However, there are still many of you that are just blog stalking. Out of 243 unique visitors since I posted this, I have only had 39 comments, and a lot of those are duplicates.
Don't be shy or proud ladies!!!! It's a free $20! Think of it, maybe you can use coupons and get a stack of stuff for nothing... or maybe there is something in Target that you have wanted for yourself but couldn't justify that you could buy with this little gift card.
Either way, you are crazy not to enter. So click here and leave me a comment today!! :)

My hubby has a degree in film. So there are just some movies he HAS to see on the big screen. But for the most part we watch at home.
I'm with you on the movie stuff! We rarely go to the theater ... it comes down to me being too cheap! In fact we Redbox'd it tonight - but I forgot to take a code w/me so we spent a buck! No biggy though! Have a great 4th of July weekend!
I find it really hard to justify going to the movies anymore. You can buy the DVD for $15 when it first comes out. That already covers the ticket prices.
You are so right! we have 7 in our family.... not even worth the $100 to go to the movies...i love a night at home with the kids and blankies...and homemade treats!! ♥
You have really made me think with this post. Now, how can I get rid of my need to get out of the house and still watch the cheap movie. (I guess I could walk to the red box! Problem solved.)
We go to the movies occasionally but I usually get my movies from the library. I'm not one to have to see a movie as soon as it gets out on DVD. I put my name on the reserve list and wait for it to be my turn. The only drawback is when 3 or 4 movies come at a time. Then it feels like I'm on movie overload.
When I do go to the movies, I go to costco and buy 2 tickets for $14.99. You can use them anytime and for any movie. This is a good savings as tickets in our town are $10.50 each.
